Coronation Street star Paddy Bever discusses Max Turner redesign
Coronation Street newcomer Paddy Bever has spoken of joining the soap opera as a Max Turner recast.
The actor arrived on board in September, reprising the role of Harry McDermott, who played the character from 2010.
Speaking about Harry’s estate, Paddy admitted, “When you take on a role you really hope you can do that person justice as well, the same way they’ve done the character justice before. That’s really important. for me and I really hope I can do Harry justice. “

The star recalled the moment he landed the role, admitting he was “just sitting in my room all by himself” when he got the life-changing call.
“I remember thinking how different my life was going to be and I just couldn’t believe it,” he said.
“Being a part of something that’s so much older than me and being Manchester myself is so exciting because it’s iconic, you think of Manchester, you think of Oasis, Manchester United, Manchester City and Coronation Street. “
Paddy then revealed that the soap opera was his first acting job, although he had acted for as long as he can remember, and landed an agent after joining the Manchester School of Acting.
“I was asked to record Coronation Street, I had an A level the next day, so I made the decision not to revise for the A level and to concentrate on the tape, ”he explained. I got it and got called in for a screen test which was so exciting.
“I was so nervous but when I got there I just hit that everyone was so adorable. I did my screen test with Jack Shepherd and then a week later I did found out I had the role which was amazing. I also kind of got an A at A level that I didn’t study for, so everything went well in the end! “

The star said “everyone has been so adorable” since joining Coronation Street, adding: “It’s such a great environment, it just got so easy that this is my first job because everyone has been so welcoming.
“I worked a lot with Jack [P Shepherd] and Julia [Goulding], Helen [Worth], Sue [Nicholls], Rob [Mallard] and Harriet [Bibby] and everyone has been so friendly. It’s amazing to work in a place in your first job where you don’t feel intimidated by all of these fantastic actors, just totally welcomed. “
As Platt, Paddy admitted that “being part of such an established family instantly makes you feel like part of the history of the show.”
