West Bay man arrested for child pornography

Freddy Manuel Diaz-Christian of West Bay has been charged with Possession and Accessing Child Pornography.

Diaz, 33, of West Bay, is said to have uploaded five indecent pictures of children twice.

According to court documents, RCIPS received sensitive information on January 29, 2021, “indicating that an IP address in the Cayman Islands was being used to download indecent images of children.”

In February, the same IP address was used to perform additional downloads, prompting RCIPS to track down the owner of that address, identified as Diaz.

“The details of the subscriber to the IP address were obtained from the service provider and a warrant was obtained and executed at the [West Bay] address and the suspect arrested, ”the statement said.

During the investigation, officers also reportedly searched his workplace where several computers, hard drives and cell phones were reportedly seized.

“The downloading and analysis of the recovered objects are still in progress, but to date, 5 indecent images of children have been found, including 2 of category A and 3 of category C”, we can read in the summary of facts.

Diaz made his first summary court appearance earlier this week in which no plea was made. He was released on bail with very strict conditions, including no contact with anyone, other than his family, under the age of 16; and not to access the Internet or use any electronic device that can access the Internet.

Diaz returns to court later this month.
